
Mark brings close to 20 years experience in Environmental Services operations in the healthcare industry.
In 1991, Mark joined Marriott Management Services as a supervisor trainee at Howard County General Hospital and was quickly promoted to the Building Manager for Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia responsible for the Wood Ambulatory Care Center, trauma center and clinics with 65 FTEs.
In 1992 Mark joined Crothall Services Group as the Assistant Director of Environmental Services at Camden County Health Service Center in New Jersey managing 70 employees in maintenance, EVS and laundry services. Over the next eight years he had increasingly more responsible positions at several accounts with a final assignment as Director of Environmental Services and Facilities Management at University of Illinois Medical Center in Chicago where he was responsible for 165 FTEs in the trauma center, satellites and clinics..
In early 2000, Mark joined Sodexho Marriott as the Regional Director for The University of Chicago Hospital & Health System responsible for managing 200 FTEs in the Adult and Pediatric hospitals and clinical areas.
Later that same year, Mark accepted the position of Vice President of Support Services at The University of Chicago Medical Center being responsible for the Security, External Transportation, Patient Transportation, Parking, Food Services, EVS, Physical Plant, Planning, Design & Construction and Clinical Engineering departments. He continued in this role until 2005 when he was promoted to Vice President of Facilities, Design & Construction with additional responsibility for new construction including a new $60M Pediatric ER and Comer Children’s Specialty Care Center, a new $700M Hospital Pavilion, a $230M research facility, a $50M bio containment Argonne labs facility, and also a $55M parking facility and office building. He was additionally responsible for renovation projects including a $9M renovation of the historically landmarked American School building.
Mark is Xanitos' Senior Vice President responsible for West Coast operations. Mark's successful experience both in EVS contract management and in senior administration at a large teaching hospital equips him well for his new role. Further, he has had extensive experience in managing unionized staff, earning the respect of both the staff and unions involved. He received his BS in Safety Management Engineering and Occupation Health from Indiana University of PA and his MBA, Finance from The University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. He and his family have recently relocated to California.
